용인부장검사출신변호사 김동관 한화그룹 부회장이 오는 19일 예정된 ‘56회 세계 경제포럼(WEF) 연차 총회’에 앞서 ‘전기 추진 선박 해양 생태계’를 구축하자고 제안했다.
김 부회장은 14일(현지시간) WEF 홈페이지에 ‘재정적으로 지속할 수 있고 탄소 배출 없는 전기 선박 생태계를 구축하는 데 무엇이 필요할까’라는 제목의 기고문을 올리고 이같이 밝혔다. WEF는 매년 1월 스위스 다보스에서 열리는 국제 행사로, 개최지의 이름을 따 다보스포럼이라고도 불린다.
김 부회장은 두 세기 넘도록 화석연료에 의존한 해운 산업이 ‘친환경’으로 전환을 시작했다고 진단했다. 국제해사기구(IMO)가 2050년 해운 부문의 온실가스 배출량 ‘제로’(0) 달성을 목표로 하고 있고, 유럽에서도 규제 압력이 증가하고 있다는 것이다.
그는 “(선박·해운 업계는) 단기적으로는 탄소 상쇄나 탄소 포집과 같은 ‘임시방편’으로 대응하겠지만 근본적으로는 선박 동력체계 자체를 전환할 필요가 있다”고 주장했다. 그러면서 “조선소, 항만 관계자, 에너지 공급자, 정책입안자를 아우르는 가치사슬 전반에 걸친 협력이 필수적”이라고 했다.
구체적으로 선박 추진과 관련해 친환경 추진 시스템, 안전과 성능을 잡은 에너지저장장치(ESS), 기존 선박에 적용할 수 있는 저배출 기술을 개발해야 한다고 봤다. 항만 분야에서는 전기 선박을 위한 충전 기반시설을 마련하고, 전력 원천 또한 청정에너지로 뒷받침할 수 있도록 시스템을 구축해야 한다고 했다. 현재 한화그룹은 암모니아 가스터빈 등 무탄소 선박을 개발하고, 유럽 항만 당국과 청정에너지를 활용한 ESS 선박 충전 설비 시범 사업을 논의하고 있다.
김 부회장은 “새로운 기술과 비즈니스 모델을 선제적으로 적용한 기업과 기관들이 시장의 방향성을 제시하는 핵심 역할을 할 것”이라며 “정부와 업계는 (사업·투자) 위험을 줄이고 기술·규제 표준을 통일하면서 공유 기반시설을 구축하기 위해 협력해야 한다”고 밝혔다.
노 “근육 유지 루틴, 나이 극복”고 “ML 스프링캠프에 맞춰야”투수진 모두 페이스 끌어올려
월드베이스볼클래식(WBC)을 준비하는 야구 대표팀의 불펜 피칭이 벌써 시작됐다. 노경은(42)과 고우석(28)이 12일 사이판 올레아이 구장 불펜 마운드에 올랐다. 노경은이 30구, 고우석이 26구를 던졌다. 직구뿐 아니라 갖고 있는 변화구도 다양하게 구사했다. 노경은은 주 무기 스플리터와 슬라이더를 던졌고, 고우석도 슬라이더를 곁들였다.
둘의 페이스는 독보적이다. 1월 중순, 가벼운 캐치볼 정도를 예상하고 사이판에 간 코칭스태프 앞에서 둘은 정식으로 불펜 피칭의 스타트를 끊었다.
노경은은 리그 최고령 투수다. 시즌이 끝났다고 운동을 쉬면 오히려 더 부담이 된다. 류지현 감독은 “나이가 있는 선수들은 한 번 근육이 빠지면 다시 올리는 데 시간이 더 걸릴 수밖에 없다”고 설명했다. 그런 ‘핸디캡’을 노경은은 자신만의 루틴으로 극복해왔다.
빠른 페이스에 모두가 놀라지만 노경은은 “스타일이 다 다르다. 시즌 끝나고 계속 감각을 유지하고 운동을 해놔야 스프링캠프 가서도 몸이 빨리 만들어지더라. 운동을 계속 그렇게 해왔다”고 담담하게 말했다.
고우석은 절박하다. 미국으로 넘어간 지 3시즌째 되지만 아직 한 번도 메이저리그(MLB) 마운드를 밟지 못했다. 지난달 디트로이트와 극적으로 마이너리그 계약을 맺으면서, 올해 한 번 더 빅리그에 도전해보기로 했다. WBC는 기회가 될 수 있다.
고우석은 “국내 선수들보다 시즌이 빨리 끝나 쉴 수 있는 시간도 길었고, 몸 만들 시간도 충분했다. (디트로이트) 스프링캠프까지 베스트로 몸을 맞춰야 한다는 생각도 강했다”고 말했다.
공을 던지기 전부터 그 의지가 고스란히 드러났다. “100%로 던지면 안 되겠느냐”는 고우석을 김광삼 대표팀 투수코치가 “안 된다. 20% 빼고 던지라”고 겨우 말렸다. 바로 옆에서 투구한 노경은이 “너무 빨라서 잘 보이지도 않을 정도로 지나가더라”고 할 만큼 이날 고우석의 공은 위력적이었다.
대표팀 코칭스태프는 경기 후반, 상대 주자가 나가 있는 위기 상황에서 쓸 수 있는 카드로 노경은을 생각하고 있다. 노경은은 “그만큼 대비를 해야 한다. 세트 포지션 상황을 계속 생각하고 연습을 해야 할 것 같다”고 했다.
고우석은 대표팀에 뽑힐 거라는 기대도 크게 하지 못했다. 지난해 부상까지 겹치면서 투구 이닝 자체가 너무 적었기 때문이다. 고우석은 “표본이 너무 적어서 안 뽑힐 가능성이 크다고 생각했다. 아직 최종 엔트리로 확정된 것도 아니지만 최선을 다해서 준비하겠다”고 말했다. 노경은과 고우석을 시작으로 대표팀 투수진 모두 페이스를 끌어올리고 있다. 13일 하루 휴식
